Day 178... Catch 22

He had decided to live forever or die in the attempt...

Catch 22 is a satirical, historical novel by the American author Joseph Heller, first published in 1961. The novel, set during the later stages of World War II from 1944 onwards, is frequently cited as one of the great literary works of the twentieth century... I had never read it, never even picked it up before I saw this copy in the gift shop of the Art Gallery. It caught my eye with the black edging on the pages and the quote across the front.

Day 177... the Domain

Before venturing out for the day and exploring this little guy came to visit...

The Domain is 34 hectares  of open space in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the eastern edge of the Sydney central business district, near Woolloomooloo. The Domain adjoins the Royal Botanic Gardens and is managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens Trust, a division of the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change. It is a popular venue for outdoor concerts, open air events and for large gatherings and rallies.

I walked through the Domain to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to view the entrants in the Archibal Prize...

An instinctive taste teaches men to build their churches with spire steeples which point as with a silent finger to the sky and stars.”
Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Also a cool place to wander around with a camera....

Day 174... pattern

Success is following the pattern of life one enjoys most.
Al Capp

Some days are harder than others, but I love my life and overall I enjoy the pattern that I have chosen

Day 173... easier said than done

If life throws you a lemon - make lemonade.
Joan Collins

I try and be positive,
I try and see the best of a bad situation,
I try and smile when I want to cry

Day 172... Patience

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have been busy of late, I think I need to stop and slow down... not sure when though

Day 171... spiky

Count the garden by the flowers, never by the leaves that fall. Count your life with smiles and not the tears that roll.

I was walking along today when I saw this, it was about 40cms long and I wanted to bring it home so I could really take my time but...
as soon as I picked it up I realised that because of the spikes I wouldn't be taking it far

Day 170... I believe

I believe in pink.
I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

Audrey Hepburn

I am enjoying putting quotes with my photos so looking at today's photo I googled "pink quotes"... I got a lot of quotes from Pink and a lot of quotes about pink roses and then I saw this one and it made me smile so it is today's quote

Day 169... my heart

When you smiled you had my undivided attention.
When you laughed you had my urge to laugh with you.
When you cried you had my urge to hold you.
When you said you loved me, you had my heart forever.

I wear this heart most of the time, it was a special gift from my son and a constant reminder of his love...

Many years ago when my son was 9 or 10 I started giving him a weekly allowance, he saved part of his allowance each week and bought me this heart for Mother's Day...

Day 167... eclipse

Thy shadow, Earth, from Pole to Central Sea,

Now steals along upon the Moon's meek shine

In even monochrome and curving line Of imperturbable serenity.

How shall I link such sun-cast symmetry

With the torn troubled form I know as thine,

That profile, placid as a brow divine,

With continents of moil and misery?

— Thomas Hardy, 'At a Lunar Eclipse'

This project has me doing things that I would never normally do... this morning when I got up, it was dark outside, it was cold outside... I was up over an hour earlier than I ever get up and the reason was to capture the Lunar Eclipse.

I managed to get some shots in between the clouds and I enjoyed the eclipse... I didn't enjoy the cold!

Day 166... that's amore

When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie

That's amore

The moon is on my mind... in around 8 hours I will be getting out of bed and heading out into the cold to try and capture the lunar eclipse... the moon will be red, big and bright just like my dinner tonight

Playin’ hopscotch

Robert E. Blackwell

I headed to the playground with my 4 year old twin nieces this afternoon, playgrounds have changed over the years but somethings don't, it was fun watching them play something that I did many years ago.

Day 164...

Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.

W. Clement Stone

Tonight I aimed for the moon and was able to capture it... not my first moon shot and it won't be the last as tonight's shot is preparation for Thursday morning when there will be a lunar eclipse, I am hoping for fine skies so I can capture it even if it does mean getting out of bed very, very early....

Day 163... Colour explosion

Man needs colour to live; it's just as necessary an element as fire and water.

Fernand Leger

Steven Wright

Day 161... Coopers Clydesdales

This tradition began in the 1860s, when Thomas Cooper used to deliver his popular ales and stouts by horse and cart.

Although horse and cart delivery stopped in the 1920s, the family’s fondness for these great beasts of burden continues and the horses are now put to work as show teams.

The current show team consists of four young bay Clydesdale geldings; all under the age of 6 and registered with the Commonwealth Clydesdale Horse Society.

Day 159... a different way to look at things

Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns. I am thankful that thorns have roses.

Alphonse Kerr

I know too many people that only look at the negatives, like roses having thorns, when they are really quite lucky to have everything that they have...

I love the people in my life that no matter what is happening to them and they have a right to be negative manage to look at the roses and smile...

I am thankful for those people in my life, I am very lucky

Day 158

Day 157... Caught in the moment

This pair of sculptures are sitting on a wall, looking like they have been caught in a moment... the world passes them by and so often does not even see them but they captured my attention and I wanted to share them with you

Day 156... Central

I love watching people, and that's what I do; just go for a walk at about 4 o'clock, and go down a busy street, where you see people coming out of school and you get a glimpse of their lives, what they're talking about.

Andrea Corr

This clock is above the Central Railway Station in Brisbane, I sat there watching this clock and watching people come and go as I waited for my friend to arrive
