An early start this morning...
meeting point... Embankment tube station
meeting time... 7 am
destination... Silverstone
So a tube ride and then onto a bus and we were away... a small group of ten on the tour plus our guide, Jodie, an Aussie girl who is over here for two years working. The group seems to be good fun, two other Aussies, a father and son combo, three Irish guys and four English guys.
I would love to tell you all about the countryside between London and Silverstone but I am unable to tell you anything as I slept the whole way. I think the trip is catching up with me and I have been tired the whole day.
We made our way to our campsite, to drop out our gear. The tents were all set up when we arrived and our little section of the campsite is good, with all our tents lined up next to our "breakfast" tent.
Nice enough tents but small, I am glad I had paid the extra to have the tent to myself because it would had been very cosy in there with a friend but a stranger would had been awful.
There are three fields of campsite and then a fourth with a fairground and a bar/disco and there are some amazing camp set ups, there is one group of Scots (the giant Scottish flags lets everyone know that they are Scots) have leather couches, a soccer table and full camp kitchen as well as satellite TV.
After a bacon roll for breakfast at camp with the group it was time to hit the track.
My seat is in Luffield C stand and what a view... I can see the cars come out of the straight from the new section of the track, around Brooklands, a quicker corner, before going into the slower Luffield corner and then into the last turn, Woodcote... a great view!!
My boys appeared in their racing machines and it took a minute for me to believe that I was sitting in the stands for the second time this season....
My view... brilliant
My man... Michael Schumacher
Robert Kubica in the Renault
The beautiful red cars...
Nico in the Williams
