After a good feed it was time to hit the road and we headed underground... MIND THE GAP... and made our way over to Westminster.
Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey... all in front of me, all larger than I could believe and once again I was blown away.
We walked along looking with wonder at the beauty of the buildings... and also at the sprinkler going on the grass. Britain has had the driest start to the year since 1929 and there are areas of dried lawn around the place but they haven't worked out that using a sprinkler in the middle of the afternoon.
We headed over to Westminster Abbey, so large and such an imposing building.
We paid the fee and went in for a walk around a place full of history, history so much older than the country that I grew up in, which makes you realise how young Australia is.
As much as I loved walking through this place, it was so very frustrating as no photography was allowed, although I did sneak a few shots on my iPhone.
Once again this is a place that I had seen and knew without ever being there before, this is where Princess Diana's funeral was held and without even trying you are able to picture the people, the music and the funeral...
We wandered through looking at the chapels and the tombs and there is no way that you could not be amazed with the work, the detail, the beauty, that has gone into every inch of it all.
In the photo below you are able to see how dry the grass out the front of the Abbey is.
We headed to the Thames to head for a cruise from Westminster to Tower Bridge.
As we travelled down the river I realised that not only is the skyline of London very open but it is also very low, having come from Hong Kong where everything is so high it was very noticeable.
The day ended with a few drinks, dinner with Wiz and chatting with Matt when he got home from work... a very big day and I loved it.
