Paris... part deux

Tuesday...

I left Wiz to sleep and went off to explore the magic of the Tower. On the way I came across the Monument to Peace, a newer monument which in itself was a simple structure and not that grand but the way that if has been built and placed to frame the Eiffel Tower is brilliant.

As I got closer to the tower I was amazed by the sheer size and power that it does have.

I had pre-purchased my tickets before I left for my trip and this proved to be a very smart move, the Eiffel Tower opens at 9 and when I arrived at 8.40 the lines to purchase tickets already was winding around, while the pre-booked ticket line had only 20 or so people in it.

I made my way directly to the top making the most of the views as I travelled up in the lift. For me there is a beauty at looking at things from above and looking at Paris was no different.
It was interesting to see the street layout of Paris, the streets radiate out from the Arc de Triomphe.
After enjoying the view for two hours I made my way down and back to find Wiz at our hotel.
Wiz took me then to Montemarte and a part of the Right Bank,
Montemartre is known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit, as a nightclub district and as an area that many artists have studios or work around the community.
We took the funicular up the hill, wandered around, watching artists work and admiring their work, had a drink, did some shopping and enjoyed some lunch...
then we headed off back to the hotel to pick up our luggage... unfortunately we left that last bit a little late and were late for the Eurostar, luckily for us they run every hour.... though would an extra night in Paris really been that bad.

Only 24 hours in Paris and so much that I didn't see but every moment was wonderful and I wouldn't change a thing.

I felt that Paris is a place for couples... lovers, partners and even friends... I was lucky enough to be there with my dearest friend and it is something I will never forget.
