Each morning I have woken early in my little tent, there are a lot of people around so a fair amount of noise and each morning even though it is only 6am it has been very bright... until this morning that is. I woke up and it seemed quite dark, so checking the time I was surprised to see it was 6:30.
Making my way out of the tent, I see very overcast skies.... walking out I look around the group and all of the Aussies, including myself, were all wearing jumpers or jackets while the locals were in t-shirts and shorts. We commented about the weather and they just smiled and said that this was a normal summer's day and that the previous days had been unusual... I guess I have been lucky with the weather.
I arrive at the track at 9, the race programme starts at 8:30 (I am use to a later start for a GP, even when we had a day race nothing happened on track until 10) and the sun had burnt off a lot of the clouds and it looked like it would be a nice day (though I did keep on a jacket whenever I was in the shade and in the stand).
There was plenty to see on and off track... comparing this to Melbourne was interesting, the displays that were at the British GP were of a high quality, they had more people talking, Coulthard and Hamilton to name a few (the crowds were huge and I couldn't get close) but there were not as many in Melbourne.
In the air, the Red Arrows display was great but it was only one display for the weekend... in Melbourne the Roulettes fly every day and there are helicopter displays as well as the Qantas flyover...
It was a good race with plenty of action happening right in front of me, Brooklands, the fast corner in front of me proved to be a popular overtaking point
The Force India of Liuzzi overtook and made contact with Michael right in front of me, you can see a piece of Michael's car in the air above them... love the picture but not the result.
Massa spun and had no choice but to pit (as that is where he ended up after just missing the wall) right in front of me.
Great seat!!!
I had been looking forward to getting on the track and walking along it after the GP like in Melbourne but the F1 race was not the last race on the programme and so there was no track entry (well there is but not until after I had left to head back to London)
I do have to say now that I have experienced a race outside of Australia that we do do a good job of it...
