Day 189... Flinders and Swanston Street
Flinders Street Station, apart from being the hub of Melbourne's transport system, is one of the city's great landmarks and icons. Opened in 1884, the station dominates the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets. The steps under the station's famous domed clock tower has long been the most popular meeting place for Melbourneans coming into the city.
St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne, is the metropolitical and cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. It is the seat of the Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne and Metropolitan of the Province of Victoria. The cathedral, which was built in stages, is a major Melbourne landmark

and some of us stop and take photos of puddles.
I started work at 5 this morning, it was dark and cold outside, later I looked out the window and the winter sun was shining.
When I finished at 1, the winter sun was once again hiding behind the rain clouds but as I walked to the car, this puddle caught my eye...

Day 185...
It has been a long day.... a day where I said goodbye to some people at work that have been a part of my life for a long time and found out that there is still a group of people that will be leaving soon...
It was good just to get home and throw the keys down until tomorrow

Day 184... sunset
Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly, and do every day what should be done, and every sunset will see you that much nearer to your goal.
Elbert Hubbard
I headed down to Henley Beach this afternoon after dropping a friend at the airport, the plan was to take some sand and water shots and then to capture the sunset... great plan until you get out of the car turn the camera on and see that the battery is about to die so then the plan becomes to sit and wait for the sun to set and waiting for the shot.

I have reached halfway... when I started there was part of me that thought I wouldn't get past the first month but I have and I am loving every day...

Day 181... new growth
The new growth in the plant swelling against the sheath, which at the same time imprisons and protects it, must still be the truest type of progress.”

Day 179... winter
I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure in the landscape - the loneliness of it - the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it - the whole story doesn't show."

Day 178... Catch 22
He had decided to live forever or die in the attempt...
Catch 22 is a satirical, historical novel by the American author Joseph Heller, first published in 1961. The novel, set during the later stages of World War II from 1944 onwards, is frequently cited as one of the great literary works of the twentieth century... I had never read it, never even picked it up before I saw this copy in the gift shop of the Art Gallery. It caught my eye with the black edging on the pages and the quote across the front.
Day 177... the Domain
Before venturing out for the day and exploring this little guy came to visit...
The Domain is 34 hectares of open space in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the eastern edge of the Sydney central business district, near Woolloomooloo. The Domain adjoins the Royal Botanic Gardens and is managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens Trust, a division of the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change. It is a popular venue for outdoor concerts, open air events and for large gatherings and rallies.
I walked through the Domain to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to view the entrants in the Archibal Prize...

Day 171... spiky
Count the garden by the flowers, never by the leaves that fall. Count your life with smiles and not the tears that roll.
I was walking along today when I saw this, it was about 40cms long and I wanted to bring it home so I could really take my time but...
as soon as I picked it up I realised that because of the spikes I wouldn't be taking it far

Day 170... I believe
I believe in pink.
I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

I am enjoying putting quotes with my photos so looking at today's photo I googled "pink quotes"... I got a lot of quotes from Pink and a lot of quotes about pink roses and then I saw this one and it made me smile so it is today's quote

Day 169... my heart
When you smiled you had my undivided attention.
When you laughed you had my urge to laugh with you.
When you cried you had my urge to hold you.
When you said you loved me, you had my heart forever.
When you laughed you had my urge to laugh with you.
When you cried you had my urge to hold you.
When you said you loved me, you had my heart forever.
I wear this heart most of the time, it was a special gift from my son and a constant reminder of his love...
Many years ago when my son was 9 or 10 I started giving him a weekly allowance, he saved part of his allowance each week and bought me this heart for Mother's Day...
