Y2 Day 13...

“There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.”
Pablo Picasso

Y2 Day 12.... colour

Color is for me the purest form of expression, the purest abstract reality.
Jim Hodges

This time Mother Nature gave me abstract...

Y2 Day 11...

I am searching for abstract ways of expressing reality, abstract forms that will enlighten my own mystery.
Eric Cantona

Y2 Day 10... talking

I'll let the racket do the talking.
John McEnroe

Most of the times he did let the racket do the talking but other times he talked with his hands or with his mouth... a fun night at Memorial Drive watching the World Tennis Challenge http://worldtennischallenge.com/

Y2 Day 9... structure

All good art is abstract in its structure.- Paul Strand

Y2 Day 8...

Y2 Day 7... together

Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there will be no loneliness,
for each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two persons,
but there are three lives before you: his life, her life and your life together.
Go now to your dwelling place to enter into your days together.
And may all your days be good and long upon the Earth

Y2 Day 6.... inside

“In every real man a child is hidden that wants to play.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

Yes... I did climb all over the equipment and played...

Y2 Day 5... devotion

“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”

Y2 Day 4... awareness

Photography has increased my awareness.

- Andreas Carl

Y2 Day 3... golden

My joy is the golden sunset
giving thanks for another day.
Gratitude itself is a source of joy.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Y2 Day 2... seeing

Photography helps people to see. - Berenice Abbott

Y2 Day 1... hot

ADELAIDE has recorded its hottest New Year's Day in 112 years with the mercury hitting 41C.

The temperature is 13C above the average for January and the city's hottest New Year's Day since 1900, when the temperature reached 43.1C

Day 365... end of 2011

Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. ~Hal Borland

I headed into the city to watch a friend and her band play, watch some fireworks and capture a photo for the end of Year One of my 365 project.

I think the above quote really sums up how I feel about this project... neither an end or beginning but a going on.

Thank you all for support, inspiration and comments... I have loved taking a photo a day and sharing part of my world with you all but this community is amazing and I feel lucky to be part of it.

Day 364... art

This mural is at Ebenezer Place in Adelaide

Day 363... given

Know how to live the time that is given you.
Dario Fo

Too often life gets in the way of living and time escapes us... one thing that I have learnt this year is to live my life and use my time. I used to think that I was busy but this year I find time for so much more...

Make the most of every minute, every second....

Day 362... out of my window

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.
Dale Carnegie

Day 361... all star

There comes a point in your life when you realize who really matters, who never did, and who always will

My Converse really matter and always will but one thing about them that make them special is when I put them on they make me think of a very cool person that I am lucky enough to call my friend.

Day 360... I must have been good

I must have been on the nice list this year (or Santa didn't think I had been that naughty), I asked for camera gear and that is what I got.... a collection of filters, a lens hood, a remote switch and a neat little case to hold memory cards and a filter...

My family thought my presents didn't look like much until they saw the smile on my face

Day 359... Christmas day

Christmas!
The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given, when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes.

Joan Winmill Brown

The family all came around for Christmas Lunch and this was my table setting... a good day.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day and that all your Christmas wishes are fulfilled...

Day 358... 'twas the night

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
(Except for me and my camera....)

The big guy has visited, eaten some cherries, drunk the beer and left some goodies under the tree

Day 357....

Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given - when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes.
Joan Winmill Brown

The Brewery Christmas Display an Adelaide tradition since 1959

Day 356..

Christmas is the happiness that lights our children's eyes.
Christmas is a song of bells ringing through the skies.
Christmas is a time of peace, of contentment deep within,
A time of love and silent hope that years will never dim.
Sherrill Thompson

Day 355..

Best of all, Christmas means a spirit of love, a time when the love of God and the love of our fellow men should prevail over all hatred and bitterness, a time when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest the presence of God.
George F. McDougall

Day 354... dreaming

Christmas time's for dreaming
Thoughts of long ago...
Holidays of childhood,
Memories all aglow.

Alice Kennelly Roberts

Day 353...

The perfect Christmas tree? All Christmas trees are perfect!
Charles N. Barnard

Day 352... D'oh

“"Let's just say that on this day, a million years ago, a dude was born who most of us think was magic. But others don't, and that's cool. But we're probably right. Amen." - Homer Simpson”

Day 351... deck the streets

From home to home, and heart to heart, from one place to another. The warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other. - Emily Matthews

Day 350... deck the halls

I love Christmas, not just because of the presents but because of all the decorations and lights and the warmth of the season.
Ashley Tisdale

Day 349... magic cave

Anyone who has lived in Adelaide during Christmas time knows of the Magic Cave... a place of magic, the home to Nipper and Nimble, an insight into the world of the North Pole and a place to visit Father Christmas.

Some history on the Magic Cave....
Confirmation of Santa’s permanent home, in a snow-bound country, was given by the timely poem, ‘A visit of Saint Nicholas’ by Professor Clement C Moore. Cartoon artist, Thomas Nast, influenced by his German heritage, supported the image of a snow-bound home far out of reach of small children

A holiday home in the Southern Hemisphere for Father Christmas opened on the 14 November 1896. Mysteriously, each year, Father Christmas arrived in Adelaide and took up residence in the Magic Cave; meeting and talking with the children until Christmas Eve. The Magic Cave is believed to be a world first and an original idea of Mr E.W. Hayward. After his death in 1903, his youngest son, Mr Edwyn Walton Hayward developed the artful Magic Cave into a city playground for boys and girls. One hundred and fourteen years later families continue the tradition of visiting the Magic Cave. The brilliant example of the community minded Christmas charity captured the spontaneous fun and gaiety of a community at play, making glad the hearts of small children.

Today, David Jones (Australia) owns the Magic Cave copyright to become the David Jones Magic Cave which remains on the original site since its inception in 1896

Day 348... on top

Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall.
Larry Wilde

Day 347... closer

From home to home, and heart to heart, from one place to another
The warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other.
Emily Matthews

Day 346... suggestions

Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.

Oren Arnol

Day 345... Bondi

Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain. ~Author Unknown

The sun was shining bright when we headed to Bondi for lunch, then the clouds came rolling in and the rain fell down... of course the rain didn't stop me from capturing the clouds and the waves

Day 344... creativity

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.

- Scott Adams

Thanks to this project, I find myself pushing myself to try something different...

Day 343... reasons

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.
Rabindranath Tagore

Being in the air as the sun starts to set is an amazing time...

Day 342... guiding the way

Faith means living with uncertainty - feeling your way through life, letting your heart guide you like a lantern in the dark.
Dan Millman

Day 341... time

“Time sometimes flies like a bird, sometimes crawls like a snail; but a man is happiest when he does not even notice whether it passes swiftly or slowly.”
Ivan Turgenev

Time... the saying is right, sometimes it disappears and sometimes it stops. For me the one time I don't notice is when I am behind my camera and I am capturing the moment.

Day 340.... sing

A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.
Lou Holtz

Day 339.... to day

“An Egg to day is better than a Hen to-morrow”
Benjamin Franklin

Day 338... art

A rose is the visible result of an infinitude of complicated goings on in the bosom of the earth and in the air above, and similarly a work of art is the product of strange activities in the human mind.
Clive Bell

Day 337... christmas wishes

May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!

Thanks to Christmas tree lights I discovered bokeh, yesterday while out shopping I discovered this string of 20 LED, battery operated, lights now I have the freedom to move the lights in whatever way I like and where ever I like... I like.

I love this project and everything that I have learnt and tried thanks to this project.... I am very lucky that this time last year I stumbled across it and set myself a goal to attempt it (I didn't believe that I would stick with it)

Day 336.... promise

A vegetable garden in the beginning looks so promising and then after all little by little it grows nothing but vegetables, nothing, nothing but vegetables. - Gertrude Stein

Day 335... beauty

“Beauty is a form of genius - is higher, indeed, than genius, as it needs no explanation. It is of the great facts in the world like sunlight, or springtime, or the reflection in dark water of that silver shell we call the moon.”
Oscar Wilde

Day 334... light

Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space. It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe. It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished. ~Michael Strassfeld

Day 333...

“It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.”
W. T. Ellis

Day 332...

Don't go through life, grow through life.”
Eric Butterworth

Day 331

Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.
William Arthur Ward

This is an Angel Flames birthday candle, birthday cake candles that burn with red, purple, green, blue and orange flames... actually pretty cool... though I feel a little guilty as I didn't follow the directions, "Only use these candles to decorate a cake and burn them in the holders provided", no cake in sight and all wanted to do was take photos.

I saw these the other day in a shop and had to buy them so I could take a photo, putting them away for a day when I was lacking inspiration or time

Day 330... cake
